Description

Fine art print on canvas, stretched, size

59,4×84,1cm , limited edition 3/500, artist Klaus Tiedge (1965-2019), numbered and signed.

Born in Germany, Klaus Tiedge began his career as a commercials and fashion photographer, which saw him shooting in locations around the world, including New York, London, New Delhi, Tokyo and Sao Paulo. But it was Cape Town that caught his attention in the late ’90s, at a time when the city was at its prime as a sought-after photographic location.

In 2001, Klaus and his wife Sandra made South Africa their permanent home. Over the next seven years they travelled to many parts of the country, and elsewhere in southern Africa, giving Klaus the opportunity to meet and work with a variety of people in exotic places. The exposure to the wonderfully diverse and beautiful landscapes of the subcontinent persuaded Klaus to move to nature and wildlife photography.

Klaus became one of the continent’s leading stylised wildlife photographers, as he consistently produced work that combined the freshness of Africa’s people and animals in their natural environments.

His signature desaturation of colour perfectly showcases the region’s spectacular natural beauty, whether it’s storm clouds building up over the Okavango or smouldering sunsets over Etosha.

Klaus has published a spectacular coffee-table book of 75 breath-taking images of wildlife in locations around sub-Saharan Africa, including Kenya, Botswana and Namibia.

In early 2018 Klaus went on a special safari to Kenya with his family, with the mission to create a wildlife film documentary that would also tell his personal story. Not knowing it was his last safari he successfully created “Safari of my Life” together with director and editor Dean Paarman; www.safariofmylife.com.
